Song 8
Taking Back Sunday - Suburban Home / I Like Food

A great set of covers. They do it straight up. I like that.

Song 7
Jawbreaker - Condition Oakland

They played this on public radio on my drive home from work last night. Beautiful tune.

Song 6
Paint It Black - Bliss

Paint It Black, my favorite hardcore band. Their new EP was just released on Bridge Nine. I got all 3 colors in the mail today. This song is insane. The furthest departure from any Paint It Black song ever written. Not only is it over two minutes... it's over three. And actually has a normal song structure. Dr Dan Yemin describes it as "sounding like Fugazi having a three-way with Jawbreaker and Nirvana." I saw them play this live a few months ago at Harvest of Hope in St. Augustine and new instantly I was hearing something of worthy of the ages. Enjoy.

Song 5
Dear Landlord - I'm Not Sayin' Get 'er Done, But Don't Just Stand There

Ok, I'm done with the "C" thing. A band I just got into recently and am really excited about. Great lo-fi pop-punk. This is off of their split 7" with Chinese Telephones. Dear Landlord’s debut record, Dream Homes, comes out on No Idea Records next month. Enjoy.

Song 4
Chuck Ragan - Do What You Do

I saw Chuck last week and haven't been able to stop listening to his solo work since. I was lucky enough to be a part of the Blueprint Sessions 7" club though which Chuck released 2 songs a month, sending out seven records total. This was the first song of his solo work that really got me excited. It will probably go down as one of my favorite love songs of all time. He re-recorded it for his debut full length, with Matt Skiba, but I don't think it does this version justice. Enjoy.

Song 3
Cadillac Blindside - Straightjacket Weather

Ok, I'm taking out the "Day" part or the tittle because obviously I'm not going to do this every single day seeing as I've already fallen days behind. What I will do is make sure I at least have a song for each day, so sometimes I'll catch up, and sometimes I'll plan ahead. Song #3 has been a favorite of mine for years. I've even considered naming my new band after it. The song is called Straightjacket Weather. It's by the late great Cadillac Blindside. Enjoy.

Day 2, Song 2 (not Blur)
The Copyrights - Days of Despair

My second day on the job and I almost forget to post a song. Good going Jordan. Better late than never. Today's selection comes from my favorite find of last year's Fest, The Copyrights. Pop-punk doesn't get a whole lot better than these guys. This is the second cut from their side of the new 7" split with The Dopamines out on It's Alive Records. Catchy and depressing, my favorite combination. The cover art is great too, a rip of the eye catching Big Black record that I'm tempted to pick up every time I see based on the cover alone. Anyway... The Copyrights... so good. Get their records. They are all worth your while. More than most other bands. Check it.
